My friend is really into crypto..

My friend wouldn’t stop trying to convince me that crypto was the future. Every conversation somehow led back to Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP or the latest trending altcoin. He laughed when I mentioned Goldbacks, telling me that physical gold-infused currency was outdated and impractical. “Crypto isn’t thin air,” he insisted. “It’s built on blockchain, decentralized, and has real-world utility!” He talked about smart contracts, digital scarcity, and how governments couldn’t manipulate it like fiat money. But all I could see was a long string of numbers on a screen, fluctuating wildly based on the whims of what he calls the “whales” pumping and dumping now and then. Maybe even paper cash has more intrinsic value? 🤔
One day, I decided to test his belief. “Alright,” I said, pulling a Goldback from my wallet. “You hold this in your hand, feel the gold inside it. Now show me your crypto—let me touch it to see how it feels or maybe how heavy. Also, try without using your phone, an internet connection, or a password.” He smirked, but I could tell the question made him think. “That’s not the point,” he said, waving it off. But to me, that was exactly the point. Gold had real weight, real value, and had been trusted for thousands of years. Crypto? Without the digital world to sustain it, it was just a memory. 🤔
